History of the Club

The Raisin River Riders started in September 1956 in Dundee Michigan.  The first horse show was at Jesse (Bud) Barnes home.  It was a success so Kenneth Bird built an announcer’s stand and a concession stand, fenced in an arena and the Raisin River Riders was born.  We currently have about 55 members.  Membership is open to anyone whether or not they own a horse or ride.

Raisin River Riders

The club has taken part in hay rides, scavenger hunts, poker runs, parades, obstacle courses, team penning, caroling at Christmas at convalescent homes, and have done many, many fundraisers.  These are just some of the events and activities we have participated in over the years.

We schedule 2 rides per month spring thru fall, (weather permitting), and several camp outs per year.  We welcome everyone to come and join us at these activities.

We hold a monthly meeting the 2nd Sat. of each month all year round.  We have a potluck dinner, 6:00pm with the meeting immediately following.  We have speakers come to our meetings several times a year, in the past we have had veterinarians, equine lawyers, equine massage therapists, farriers, and many others.
